United Nations World Food Programme wants to hire qualified applicants to the following positions 

Position 1 – Logistics Officer

Education: Advanced University degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management or other related fields, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.

Experience: At least one year of senior professional experience in one or more of the transportation and ancillary sectors: port operations, shipping, clearing and forwarding, air operations, large-scale road/rail transport, and distribution management. Proficiency in Windows (MS Word, MS Excel) and some transport tracking system experience.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English. Knowledge of the local language is added advantage.

Position 2 – Security Associate

EDUCATION: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area.

EXPERIENCE: At least 6 years of relevant work experience in a humanitarian context

Knowledge & Skills:

• Specialised knowledge of the application of practical methods, techniques, procedures and systems used in security, typically gained through technical training and work experience.
• Broad knowledge and understanding of security logistics, security administration, risk assessment and co-ordination with local authorities and local law enforcement agencies.
• Training and experience in fire and related intervention/evacuation procedures.
• Ability to manage emergency situations and remain calm

Position 3 – Programme Assistant (Hotline Operator, Multilingual- Tigrigna & Afar speaker)

Education:  Completion of secondary school education or post-secondary certificate in the related functional area and/or a diploma or a university degree in economics, business administration, social sciences, development studies or management.

Experience: At least Four years of Programme related experience. Community engagement experience is an added advantage.

Desirables: Skills and competencies: Written and oral communication, computer literacy, and previous experience with database systems, relationship building and teamwork.

Language: Fluency in oral and written communication in English, Tigrigna, and Afar languages.

  • Position 4 – Design and Facilities Manager (Addis Ababa)

Education: Bachelor’s degree in in Civil Engineering or another relevant field. A Master’s degree or higher in Structural Engineering is an added advantage.

Experience: A Minimum of 7 years of experience in Civil Engineering projects focused on building design and maintaining facilities. Out of which 2 years or more working experience in the UN is desirable.

Experience in health and safety and working in difficult security environments
Knowledge of National and International design standards and building codes
Knowledge of UN Physical Security requirement for UN premises is beneficial
Knowledge of UN Procurement procedures
Experience of working in the Humanitarian Context

  • Position 5 -Programme Policy Consultant – Nutrition (Semera)

Education: Advanced University degree in Public Health Nutrition, Nutrition, Food Technology, Medicine or other relevant field.
Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written English

Experience: At least Five years’ experience and exposure to implementation of national/international development programmes. Experience working in public health/food security/ nutrition related activities. Experience identifying and defining nutrition issues/problems within a country.
Skills:
Ability to work independently in a timely and organized manner.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Willingness to explore and experiment with new ideas and approaches in own work.
Ability to work in a team and multi-task as needed.
A strong understanding of nutrition issues
Strong coordination and oversight skills

  • Position 6 -Programme Policy Consultant (Resilience and Livelihood) (Jijiga)

Education: University degree in Environmental sciences, Natural Resource Management, Agriculture, Climate Change Adaptation, Social sciences, Engineering, or other related subjects. An advanced university degree in related field is an added advantage.
Experience: At least seven years working experience and demonstrated technical expertise in the areas of climate change and capacity building, resilience strengthening, livelihood building, natural resource management, asset creation, and public works. Experience in WFP-related programmes and PSNP is considered an asset.
Languages: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English. Knowledge of the local language is added advantage

(Dire Dawa )
Education: University degree in M&E, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, or related fields.
Experience: 4 years and more years of working experience focusing on M&E, project planning and management.
Gained valuable experience in collecting geospatial and socioeconomic food security data,conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses, and reporting findings to senior leaders.
Has led/participated in surveys, multiple assessments at Woreda, Zonal or regional level, including the design, data collection and analysis;
Has participated in design and implementation of programmes focusing on food security and nutrition;
Experience in both development and humanitarian contexts is an added advantage
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Oromifa language is a requirement

Education:

• Experience in CBT operations including coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
