Compassion International is a Christian child advocacy organization dedicated to alleviating child poverty and fostering holistic development in children across the globe. Established in 1952, it partners with vetted local churches in various countries to implement child sponsorship programs. These initiatives focus on providing not only financial assistance but also education, healthcare, vocational training, and spiritual guidance. By enabling children to develop their potential in a loving environment, Compassion International strives to break the cycle of poverty and empower communities for sustainable growth.

At the heart of Compassion International’s work is the belief that child sponsorship can make a transformative difference in the lives of children. Sponsors provide monthly contributions that help cover essential services such as school fees, meals, and medical care. Additionally, the organization emphasizes the importance of personal relationships; sponsors have the opportunity to communicate with their sponsored children, fostering a sense of connection and encouragement. This model creates a supportive framework where children can thrive, receive mentorship, and cultivate a sense of purpose and self-worth.

Compassion International also places great emphasis on the empowerment of local churches, recognizing their pivotal role in reaching vulnerable children and families. By equipping these churches with resources and training, the organization promotes community engagement and collaboration to tackle various issues contributing to poverty. Through initiatives such as safe environments for children, life skills training, and community development projects, Compassion International is not merely addressing immediate needs but is committed to fostering long-term change and resilience in the communities it serves. In doing so, it aims to instill hope and empower future generations to rise above their circumstances.
